In 2017, Laura Cahill and Conor Hamill from Rothco won the Irish Cannes Young Lions Film Competition. Their prize was to represent Ireland in the film category in Cannes that year. However, when they got back from Cannes they had the experience of seeing their script for the national competition, go from page to screen.

This is an initiative spearheaded by IAPI in partnership with Pull the Trigger, Wide Eye Media and RTE. And in 2017, our charity partner was Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. The campaign was successful in raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland and went on to be used in markets outside of Ireland. On top of that, the work created by the Young Lions team has been competing and winning awards at an industry level throughout 2018.

We'd like to congratulate them on their most recent win of Bronze at Kinsale Sharks in the Charity Film category. In addition to this, the campaign won a Bronze ICAD Award in the Change category in May 2018 and a Bronze for Sound Design in the Craft Category at the Lisbon International Advertising Festival. We're so proud of the work that these Young Lions created and how far it has traveled in the past year.

2018 Film

We look forward to launching this year's film on behalf of Concern Worldwide in the Lighthouse Cinema on 18th October. This was the winning entry by our 2018 Young Lions Kieran O'Driscoll and Eric Gasparro from Guns or Knives. It will run in cinemas, thanks to Wide Eye Media, from 1st November up until Christmas. We hope it too will have a long-life after it's initial run and look forward to updating you on it's many award successes next year!

2019 Charities

Once the 2018 film has been launched the search will begin for our charities that will benefit from the 2019 Cannes Young Lions competition. IAPI will be looking for 3 to 4 charities across our categories – Digital, Design, Media, Film, Print, PR, Design and Young Marketers. If you have a charity close to your heart (that does not currently have an advertising agency) then please email to put forward your suggestions and we'll be in touch in November.
